Annotation #1 & Supporting Evidence
Objective: Work cooperatively in a team setting.
-Activities/Resources:
- Interact heavily with my fellow interns & management team
- Organize and find a number of volunteers to work festivals/events
- Share assigned tasks with others
- When other interns/management isn’t in the office, figure out what hasn’t been completed of theirs and pick up where they left off
-Evidence:
- Include assigned tasks/sponsors lists via email, spreadsheet, boards & print outs
Each morning after I arrived at work, I would sit down and meet with my supervisor to discuss tasks that needed to be accomplished that day. Joanne usually had composed notes that were dispersed among each intern and staff member. Since she and I were usually the only ones in the office Tuesdays and Thursdays when I worked, there would be two assignments for me. I would either continue working an assignment from Monday’s workday, then start a new assignment upon its completion, or start two entirely new projects. I liked this system of tackling tasks since it became routine after a while, and was quite organized. Sharing tasks with my fellow interns was great since I got to learn what sorts of ideas they had versus what I would have thought to apply to an assignment. It was an efficient way to work on tasks. Although as of the past few weeks, they unfortunately haven’t been around so I had been assigned two new entire tasks per workday.
Now as I mentioned in my last bullet under “activities and resources”, I wanted to be able to figure out what work hadn’t been completed if there was no management or other interns in the office upon my arrival. Although most of the time my supervisor would be in, I was still able to just walk into the intern room and pick up right where someone else left of. Of course I would double check with Joanne to ensure this had to be done, but usually I was right with my decision to continue on with their work. This provided me with a sense of confidence in myself to make executive decisions at work, which in the future will be a great trait to carry on with me to my future endeavors.
